ACTICAL
While it has been used with human clinical and research applications, Actical has been used successfully on nonhuman primates and dogs as well as a wide variety of other animals, both domestic and wild. The Actical is a small, omni-directional accelerometer that accurately measures a subject's energy expenditure and step count. These are crucial variables when evaluating quality of life indicators. Lightweight, waterproof and durable, the Actical device enables real-time ambulatory monitoring. It is practical for most activities and can be used indoors or outdoors. The Actical software provides detailed analysis reports on Active Energy Expenditure (AEE) occurring over time. Data can be viewed in either ASCII compatible data files, visual displays of daily activity or kilocalorie energy
expenditure outputs per day.

E-MITTER BATTERY-FREE IMPLANTABLE TRANSPONDERS
An E-Mitter is a small implantable transponder that is powered by capturing energy from electrical fields generated by the ER-4000 Energizer/Receiver. This allows the E-Mitter to operate without batteries and remain implanted indefinitely to monitor the subject's temperature, activity or heart rate. Infrared Cage Top Motion Sensor for Activity Monitoring
Our infrared cage top motion sensor records movements detected in a given epoch and is a very low cost activity monitoring solution. When the subject moves while in view of the motion sensor, activity is recorded. The number of closures per sampling interval is accumulated by the DP-24 Data Port and communicated to the PC when the sample epoch is completed.

Infrared Feeding Monitors
Our infrared feeding monitors are designed for use with the Techniplast food chambers. The feeding monitors generate two types of data: feeding frequency and feeding duration. When the subject places its head in the feeding chamber, a beam of infrared light is broken. At the same time, a clock starts and continues to run as long as the beam is interrupted.

Lick Sensors for Drink Monitoring
Senses the number and timing of licks. When the subject completes the circuit between the sipper tube and a metal plate, a lick is recorded as an activity count.

Provides 24 channels of input to VitalView data acquisition system.
